BREAKING NEWS: McCollister's to California

BATON ROUGE, March 27 /Rant Rav!ngs-Newswire/ - Brian McCollister officially announced today his imminent relocation to the recession-plagued state of California. 

Uprooting his new wife Chipley, the couple will move to the Burbank area beginning April 6th. 

Since at first the move was kept on the "down-low," this seemingly spontaneous, fly-by night action has triggered mixed reactions from both family and friends alike.

"This was kinda sudden to just spring this on us," said one friend. "I mean, California is a lot further than that Orlando thing he did awhile ago. I'm seriously bummed!"

But to others closer to the couple, the move was more than expected. 

Infanticide Supporter to Speak at Notre Dame

Dictionary.com defines Infanticide as:

1.	the act of killing an infant.

2.	the practice of killing newborn infants.

3.	a person who kills an infant.

The University of Notre Dame has a tradition of inviting new presidents to speak at graduation. But this year's selection of President Barack Obama has been met by a barrage of criticism that has left some students fearing their commencement ceremony will turn into a circus.

Many Catholics are angered by Obama's planned appearance at the May 17 ceremony because of his decisions to provide federal funding for embryonic stem cell research and international family planning groups that provide abortions or educate about the procedure.

Go Black to Be Green?!

Has anyone heard about this Earth Hour stuff?

Apparently, we are supposed to turn off our lights tomorrow night for one hour in an effort to "raise awareness of climate change and promote energy conservation."

So let me get this straight...

A world wide, hour-long blackout is going to remind us about the importance of "going green"?

Reflections in the Windows

I had a thought the other day when I was looking at the new HPC Arena going up. I was looking at all the reflective material on the front - all the glass that shines almost like a mirror in the right light.

I thought about how James says the Word of God is like a mirror. When we look into it we see a reflection of Jesus Christ. And as I imagined what that really looked like, I saw in my mind's eye the reflections that will soon pass across this place - those who are lost; reflections of the homeless and jobless, of smiling kids and new marriages, of families that have committed and sacrificed to build a place where people will encounter God for His glory.

And when you connect all the images that will be reflected in these windows, I believe it all creates a huge mosaic of the image of Jesus our Savior. This is a place where He will love to be because it is a place that will welcome the poor and hurting.

I can't wait to see those reflections in these windows.

Having a Baby

Don’t get excited by the title of this post.  Britney is not pregnant.  Neither am I.  The purpose of this post is just to express my observations and experiences as someone in his late twenties and without child.

One of the first questions I receive from someone that I have not seen in a while is inevitably in regard to our plans to have children.

Obama budget deficit "four times" larger than Bush's

President Barack Obama's budget would produce $9.3 trillion in deficits over the next decade, more than four times the deficits of Republican George W. Bush's presidency, congressional auditors said Friday.

The new Congressional Budget Office figures offered a far more dire outlook for Obama's budget than the new administration predicted just last month — a deficit $2.3 trillion worse. It's a prospect even the president's own budget director called unsustainable.

In his White House run, Obama assailed the economic policies of his predecessor, but the eye-popping deficit numbers threaten to swamp his ambitious agenda of overhauling health care, exploring new energy sources and enacting scores of domestic programs.
