Has anyone seen this commercial?
Titled, "The Dry Cleaners," part of Ford's Bold Moves advertising campaign, depicts a young woman picking up her clothes at the drive-thru window of her regular dry cleaner service.
As she goes to pay, she spots the driver in the car behind her (a decidedly older, rugged Marlboro man-type) minding his own business and staring off into space.
Knowing nothing about the man's marital status (apparently his hands are not in clear view on his steering wheel), she smiles in a sly, Jezebel-like expression and offers to pay for some of his clothes. She gives her contact info to the female attendant, who uncomfortably nods in return.
Apparently, the ad wizards at Ford Motor Company consider the timeless art of homewrecking to be a "BOLD move".
When I saw this commercial I myself thought about the possibility that he might be married. What we have here is an isolated event that is out of context. The man has the choice of contacting her or just gladly accepting a free dry cleaning. The ball is in his court, and if he is married, hopefully he will make the right decision. If he makes the wrong decision and contacts the woman, she will hopefully discontinue pursuing this relationship once she finds out he is married. Having said this, I don't think Ford is promoting "homewrecking," but instead presenting us with a bold move in an isolated situation. What happens after that is yet to be determined.
