What was he thinking?
In case you haven't heard...
There were several conservative character assassinations in a drive-by shooting during the White House Corespondent's Dinner.
Sarah Palin.
Michael Steele.
And Rush Limbaugh.
Always presidential, Obama lapped up the hate as comedian actress-turned-hate-spewer Wanda Sykes expressed hope that Rush Limbaugh's kidneys would fail.
And that Limbaugh was a terrorist on 9/11.
The Telegraph's Toby Harnden was present at the event:
This is what she said: "Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails, so you're saying, 'I hope America fails', you're, like, 'I dont care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq'. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that's treason.
"He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight."
She then concluded: "Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs." Obama seemed to think this bit was pretty hilarious, grinning and chuckling and turning to share the "joke" with the person sitting on his right.
I truly believe these people are sick and demented. They were stewing with hatred during Bush's presidency, and now with Obama, they've been unleashed.
The bigger issue here, is why was Sykes comfortable making these jokes in front of the President of the United States?
And what kind of person is Barack Obama to not be uncomfortable with her sick humor?
Now I know that I vowed to retire from all the negative Obama coverage.
After all, he's my President too.
But the man just keeps giving me material.
And Wanda, I know you know the truth about Rush's "wanting Obama to fail" comment.
But liberal celebrities are experts at spreading deceit.
And they don't care.
Because they know they'll get a "free pass", and no one will challenge them on it.
As for President Obama, this comment from "Compared2What" articulates the rest of my thoughts accurately:
Simply shameless.
But don't worry about our President.
He too will get a "free pass."
