"The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 13:41-42)
Ever since Facebook opened the doors every pet, sibling, and parent, advertisers are taking advantage of the larger user base to pimp their products and services through excessive apps and targeted movie fan promotions.
And Mark Zuckerberg's baby continues to prostitute its credibility, all for the purposes of the profit-hungry mainstream market.
But yesterday, I witnessed something especially deplorable.
With the upcoming release of the latest Hollywood doomsday movie, 2012, the ad bar is riddled with blurbs detailing how YOU and your Facebook friends can join in with the hype (if you "click here"):
The thing is, not everything is worth sensationalizing.
And not everything is a game.
If the world is over in three years, don't you have something more pressing to engage in than refining your status updates?
What about, I dunno, checking on the status update of your eternal soul?
I truly believe Satan is trying to lull mankind into a state of unawareness, causing all to lower their guards through the advances of technology.
And desensitizing all humans to the coming judgment in the process.
All he has to do (in this case) is make Facebook ads to trivialize the Bible's truths.
Are the following fictional app descriptions that far off from what you may find on the side of your wall?
"Cast a spell on your friend, and send their soul to the devil! How many lives can u damn?"
Or what about:
"Evil babies are being born every second. See how many still-born infants u eliminate? Find out!"
Or
"The end of the world is near, and we're going to live somewhere else! Make your reservation now on the alien vessel, because everyone wants 2 b gone too!"
Although these are outrageous hypothetical examples, the premise (and the danger) remains the same.
Now, I realize that the "end of time" is just a man-made concept, as time will never end and we will live eternally (in one place or another).
But to the world, the rapid approach of the Day of the Lord can be trivialized to a Facebook game, and it's fun!
Jesus' return is so near, you can hear His footsteps if you listen closely.
Sure, no man knoweth the hour, but it could definitely come by 2012 (or sooner).
Hollywood loves to flirt with Armageddon, but what will happen when they suddenly find themselves starring in one of their blockbusters (sooner than later)?
It's time to wake up.
