Tonight RiffTrax Live is holding an encore of "Plan 9 From Outer Space," which originally premiered on August 20th.
Former Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew members Mike Nelson, Keven Murphy (Tom Servo) and Bill Corbett (Crow) take viewers on a wise-crack filled journey into Ed Wood Jr.'s "Plan 9 From Outer Space," (quite possibly one of the worst films ever made).
As a big MST3K fan, I wanted to see the movie with people I could enjoy the movie with.
So I traveled down to Jackson, MS to call on my friends for an early birthday gathering.
The experience did not disappoint. From riff to brilliant riff, we were laughing so hard we had to struggle to find breath.
Broadcast live from Nashville, the event featured the pre-movie short Flying Stewardesses, an equally cringe-inducing look into the day-to-day hardships of the airline service industry.
There were times during the film when it was practically impossible to hear what was going on because people were still howling from the previous riff.
Since we were expecting to be the only ones sitting in the theater, the amount of people that showed up was very surprising.
And there were normal people and families sitting and enjoying themselves (among the crowd of sci-fi nerds and B-movie fans -- myself included).
Reports from fans across the country about the amount of mainstream attendance was consistent to what we encountered in Pearl, MS.
Here's hoping that this undertaking was profitable enough to hold more RiffTrax Live events in the future.
So if you missed it, here's your second chance to see it.
But please remember, "“The captain thanks you for keeping our plane snake free.”
