"Keep cool, my babies!"
On Monday, January 18, Los Angeles Conan O'Brien fans (along with fans in New York, Chicago, and Seattle) rallied outside of his television studio at Universal City in Hollywood. The weather's hurricane-like wind and rain were not enough to deter loyal supporters for showing their love and appreciation for "Coco".
Despite the near monsoon conditions, fans lined Lankershim Boulevard with signs, banners and all sorts of orange regalia as passing traffic honked in support.
The force behind the "I'm With Coco" movement was Mike Mitchell, who created a groundswell of excitement with his artistic depiction of the Tonight Show host.
John Gibson, who organized the rally, revealed that Conan could see the rally from his office, but could not confirm if Conan would be coming out to see it firsthand.
But as the afternoon rolled on, the sun began shining and suddenly Conan ran down the street, followed by hordes of fans who were quick enough to notice (Coco is pretty spry).
Afterwards, Andy Richter appeared on the roof to massive applause as he made this statement:
"It's kind a tough time, but it's also a really fun time," said Richter. "But thank you so much...and the lawyers won't let me say anything else."
Finally, Conan joined Andy, Max and crew on the rooftop for one last show of gratitude as he waved to the fans.
It was great to be on the scene to participate and mingle with some of the avid fans.
And believe me, there were some characters.
