The countdown is on.
The 26th installment of the greatest spectacle in sports entertainment, the mecca of wrestling begins in less than an hour.
Having been to the last 2 WrestleMania's, it's killing me that I can't be there this year (since Phoenix is just an hour and a half flight from Burbank).
Still, I'll be taking part in the grandeur from my apartment via PPV, decked out in my Shawn Michaels gear.
And there's two matches in particular that I'm pumped about.
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker II
The Phenom vs Mr. WrestleMania himself, the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels.
I was in attendance last year when these two wrestled arguably a PERFECT match.
Shawn came closer than anyone to breaking Undertaker's WrestleMania winning streak (now 17-0).
So close, that Shawn felt he had no choice than to petition 'Taker for a rematch.
Finally, the Deadman accepted, with the condition that if his streak was on the line, Shawn would have to match the stakes: HBK's career.
Michaels is, in my book, the greatest wrestler of his generation, and one of my heroes.
I cringe when I think that this may be his last match, and it boggles my mind to think of how these two can top their efforts last year.
It's the Streak vs the Career.
For me this is THE match of tonight, and either way, it's gonna be epic.
Go HBK!
Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs Vince McMahon
Hell froze over when Bret Hart returned to the WWE, and after 12 bitter years away, he was seeking closure to a controversial situation in 1997 where he was unceremoniously sent packing.
But there was no forgiveness to be found in Vince McMahon.
Now "the Hitman" has secured a payback match with McMahon, who signed the contract under the false pretenses that Bret was injured.
He was faking.
At WrestleMania 26, history will be made as Bret Hart returns for a street fight that the entire wrestling world never dreamed would happen.
As Bret Hart fan, I was crushed the night he was forced out of the company, and his return was a dream come true.
This year's show is on track to be one of the best WrestleMania events ever. Every match has been built up properly, and each storyline was developed to a slow build.
But enough talking, the PPV is starting!
The landscape of wrestling will change when it ends.
