Last year I lamented the end of "this limited time only" menu item, and now, the Rip'n Chick'n has returned to Popeye's, better than ever!
As soon as Chipley mentioned she saw the signs when she was at lunch that day, I knew instantly what I would be having for dinner.
In case you have been living under a rock (or just don't frequent Popeye's Fried Chicken) then this concept is hard to explain. Basically, it's a piece of chicken where you "rip" the strips off and dip them in sauce as you consume it.
Clever gimmick, when it's really just strips attached to a chicken breast. But it's even tastier this time around.
According to the Popeye's website, the chick'n is now "marinated in a spicy blend of cayenne and habanero peppers."
Surely I would have remembered this from last year, because it REALLY packs a punch!
Add to that the bonus experience of dipping in your sauce of choice (I like the Bold BQ) and you've got quite the kicker for your taste buds.
So far, I've had it three times within the last week. I think I'm addicted to the rip'n.
I know I should stop, but it's only here for a limited time (which based on last year, was only a few months).
I whole heartedly recommend it, in moderation of course.
And while you're at it, don't forget to rip out some "ING's" from the internet.
