Update on Dad

"Our God is Healer, awesome in power..." -- Chris Tomlin
We are heading back home following a weekend in New Orleans. On Friday, Dad met with the head cardiologist at Ochsner, Dr. Hector Ventura, an eccentric, conservative man with a colorful personality. Dad really likes him, which is important because its easier to trust a doctor you like.
Dr. Ventura wants to see him in one month, and follow him closer because Dad's never been on medicines before (we're talking about a man who had NO major symptoms before his heart gave out, so "feeling alright" isn't really an accurate measure of health).
This week, Dad will meet with a local cardiologist (the one that first saw him in the ER). From there he may enter a cardio physical rehab program at the BR General.
Yesterday we were walking down Magazine St. and Dad decided to splurge on a burger. As we were laughing at his jokes, something occurred to Ashleigh. She mentioned it to Mom and me in private, how we almost lost Dad in 3 hours, then going through everything we went through last week, to having him now -- here with us again.
What other reason could God have spared Dad other than He has mighty plans in store!
Prayer point: Now that Dad officially begins "life" again for this one month period, pray that he would deal with reality in a positive way. I think the seriousness of his condition will finally hit him hard this week. That he would learn what it means to truly "rest" in a serious change of lifestyle.
He mentioned that he will be reading Psalm 23 every morning for the next 90 days, because he's really been living it! He's been through the valley of death, and now looks to the promise of renewal following the season of still waters.
