Update on Dad
Sunday, April 7 - 11:17pm
Welllllllllll, isn't this just like our God?
Ashleigh Jayne-Photography has been giving regular updates on Dad's condition, which is now stable. Looks like God is setting the stage for another shining performance of His glory! I'm trying to process it all through the prism of tracing the Lord's fingerprints.
Mom brought Dad to the hospital this afternoon because he was having trouble breathing. His heart rate and blood pressure were sky high.
After running a heart cath, they found his heart was in a very weakened state, filled with fluid (including some in his lungs). A normal heart pumps at least 60% of blood, and his is only at 5%!!
Those seem to be glory odds to me.
Had he not come to the hospital this afternoon, he would have died tonight!
Miracle one.
And the fact that he was so bad off he WANTED to go to the hospital?
Miracle two.
They placed a balloon in his heart to assist with the pumping, and are draining the fluid from the heart and lungs with diuretics. For now, he's on a breathing tube.
The cardiologist will be back in the morning to evaluate him for improvements. If there are, he can stay in town. If not, he will be moved to Oschner in New Orleans for more advanced treatments.
So that's the prayer point for tonight. Improvements of any kind, really. But since our God is SO big, I think we can ask for SUBSTANTIAL improvements!
Of course, the doctor had to give the worst case scenario, which is Dad could need a heart transplant.
And the best case?
Well, I was only supposed to live two weeks with my leukemia.
I'll take those odds, God.
Thanks to everyone for the continued support and prayers!
Behold, His mighty glory is waiting in the wings, and the curtain's about to rise!
